ABM UK has provided each one of its 7,000 UK-based employees with a state-of-the-art handheld smart device.
The facilities solutions provider says it took the decision to “empower its staff ” with the latest handheld technology, as it believes it will help to streamline and further improve the quality of the many technical services that the company offers its clients.
The devices will enable ABM UK’s staff complete a number of tasks efficiently while on-site, including: accessing clients’ codes of practice; ensuring safety when working alone; viewing, starting and completing client jobs; scheduling meetings; and booking annual leave. Additionally, staff will be able to view ABM UK’s company news via a dedicated app.
ABM UK’s Group Managing Director, Andy Donnell, commented: “We’re living and working in an increasingly technologically-driven society. It wasn’t a matter of if we would commit to purchasing these smart devices, rather when, and we strongly felt that they needed to be rolled-out sooner rather than later.
“The smart devices will help our employees to work more efficiently, which will in turn pass on a significant cost saving to our clients. It’s undoubtedly a considerable investment, but it’s one which we believe will pay dividends in the long-term, and we’re proud to be leading the way in the facilities management industry.
“With our staff operating alone and in small groups across the UK, we believe that these smart devices will also help to instil a much-needed sense of community and connectivity in today’s digital age.”
