BGIS pulls out of agreement to acquire Carillion FM contracts in the UK

International real estate and facility management services provider, Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions (BGIS), has announced it is to pull out of the agreement it entered last month with the Special Manager for the Official Receiver to acquire a large portfolio of Carillion FM contracts in the UK.

In an announcement made yesterday (8 March 2018), the Canadian firm said it would not be proceeding with the deal as “certain closing conditions had not been met”.

Gordon Hicks, Chief Executive of BGIS commented: “While we are disappointed at this outcome, we are continuing to pursue opportunities to grow our global business in the UK and welcome continued dialogue with prospective customers as we build out our platform for future growth opportunities.”

A spokesperson for the Official Receiver, said the agreement with BGIS was “conditional on ongoing support from customers for continued provision, but this could not be secured”.

The failed deal now puts another 2,500 jobs at risk.
