As part of a new three-year deal to provide total facilities management (TFM) to Capital City Academy Trust in North West London, Kier will deliver a programme of careers workshops to help students better understand the breadth of careers available in the FM industry.
The interactive workshops will be delivered in partnership with the specialist sports and art academy every three months, aiming to provide career advice to students, information about different job roles and apprenticeship opportunities within Kier.
The initiative builds on Kier’s recently launched Shaping Your World campaign, which promotes careers across the built environment and pledges one per cent of its workforce as Kier Ambassadors, working with schools and colleges across the UK, engaging with at least 10,000 pupils in the first 12 months.
The contract commenced on 11 October and now sees Kier delivering fully managed hard and soft FM services including mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning and waste management services, grounds maintenance and security across the academy.
A capital investment over the contact period will replace the academy’s CCTV systems and install an intruder alarm system. Part of Kier’s proposal will also see the site upgraded to automated site managed security.
Greg George, Director of Finance & Resources at Capital City Academy said: “The Academy welcomes Kier’s professional approach to total facilities management. We look forward to the benefits this partnership will bring to our wonderful building and its surroundings; as well as the opportunities it will offer our students receiving career advice through the Shaping Your World campaign.”
The contract award comes with an option to extend for a further two years and extends Kier’s presence across the education sector, with Kier Workplace Services already delivering FM to University College London, Capital City College Group, ACS International Schools and multiple school contracts in Hackney, Waltham Forest, Harrow and Kent.
