Central Square is an 11-storey mixed-use complex. The £100m development has more than 200,000 sq. ft of space and contains off ices, accommodation, restaurants, a bar and retail units. It also boasts an impressive atrium with a winter garden, as well as a rooft op ‘sky garden’ and outside terrace. Gradus supplied R95XT11 PVC-u stair edgings to the main staircases to help protect against the risk of slips, trips and falls. ASXT20 aluminum stair edgings were also specified for use in the escape staircases and were installed using Gradus Grip, a solvent free rapid curing flexible adhesive that is suitable for bonding stair edgings to most surfaces. Gradus Grip is a more cost eff ective solution than traditional fixings, as it removes the need for drilling and screwing, so less time is needed to fix each stair edging. Gradus also supplied a range of barrier matting to the development, including Esplanade 5000HD and Boulevard 5000HD. www.gradus.com 01625 428922 LEADING WATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY COMPANY, LUBRON UK, WELCOMES NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Lubron UK is delighted to welcome Steven Shave to the team. Steven will take over the role of business development manager, and the 15 years’ sales and technical experience he gained in his previous position within the industry will stand him in good stead to market the brand and its range of water treatment solutions. Initially, Steven is planning to focus his attention on building Lubron’s existing Chemical Water Treatment and Hygiene portfolio, providing complete water solutions backed by its LCA accreditation (Legionella Control Association). He elucidates: “Under the phrase ‘Water Hygiene’ we are looking to increase our activity in a variety of water systems, including cooling towers and building water services. We already hold a strong position in the market across a broad spectrum of industries, but we can strengthen that position by demonstrating our capabilities to more potential clients. “Marketing the company alongside its new branding is an exciting prospect for me, as is raising the profile of the existing Water Hygiene and Chemical Water Treatment work. Customers are faced with increased legislation compliance coupled with decreased budgets, and this makes the market and choosing a supplier very diff icult. By doing my job right, I can make that choice a lot simpler!” www.lubron.co.uk 01206 866444 APPLIANCE TESTING PROVIDES PLATFORM FOR BROADER HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT AT FTS The extended data collection capabilities of advanced PAT technology is helping an established electrical safety testing business to successfully broaden its service base. For over 10 years the core business of Milton Keynes based FTS Safety Solutions Ltd has been the provision of portable appliance testing services for a wide range of industrial and commercial clients. Over the last two years the company has grown and expanded its market by incorporating a range of non-electrical tests into its service off ering, providing clients with a more comprehensive health and safety testing service. As well as the traditional PAT testing work, FTS now carry out: thermal imaging surveys, emergency lighting inspections, fire extinguisher servicing and fire alarm maintenance. Development Director, Andrew Mitchell, attributes the success of these additional services to the Apollo 600 and the data it collects: “We have used Seaward PAT Testing machines since we started the business 10 years ago and I just can’t fault them. They are reliable precision pieces of equipment that we have built our business around.” A recent upgrade to the data logging capabilities of the Apollo 600 means FTS test engineers are now working much more eff iciently and the company has recently secured the ISO9001 quality management standard. www.seaward.co.uk www.ft ssafetysolutions.co.uk GENERATOR POWER ADDS ATLAS COPCO QAC1000 TO FLEET Generator rental specialist, Generator Power Ltd has recently taken delivery of 10 new Atlas Copco QAC1000 generators; an investment of over £1.5 million.
