Apleona HSG Facility Management UK has secured a four-year contract to deliver FM services on behalf of the Port of London Authority (PLA) which oversees commercial and leisure activities on the River Thames between Teddington and the North Sea.
The contract agreed with PLA sees Apleona deliver services including cleaning, janitorial, security, waste, pest control and washroom hygiene at seven sites including Richmond in Surrey and Gravesend in Kent.
James Thoden van Velzen, Apleona UK & Ireland CEO, said: “This is a significant new business opportunity with a high-profile organisation of great historical importance in London and we are delighted to welcome our new colleagues who have TUPEd into Apleona.”
PLA was created in 1909 to bring order to the chaos and congestion on the Thames that developed after industrialisation in the late 1800s. The Bill that led to the creation of the PLA was introduced by David Lloyd George and was guided through Parliament by Winston Churchill, before the organisation came into being on 31st March 1909.
