Workplace design and fit-out specialists, Area, has announced the appointment of Steve Baldock and Alistair Buchanan within its Landlord and Detail and Build teams.

Area which is part of the Fourfront Group was created on 3 July 2017 as a result of the merging of two of the Group’s businesses, Area Sq and Cube, following an 80 per cent increase in Group turnover over the last three years.

Baldock joins the business as Divisional Director within Area Landlords and will play an active part in further developing Area’s existing landlord relationships and will seek out further opportunities within the market in order to help landlords to maximise their rental yield from Cat A fit-outs. A well-known figure within the industry, Baldock’s recent career highlights include projects for American Express, Microsoft Research, Twitter, the ACCA, and Hasbro.

Buchanan takes on the role of Contracts Director within Area’s growing Detail & Build division. With increasing demand for contractors to absorb risk, Buchanan will help them to fine-tune designs using Area’s specialist Detail and Build services. He joins the company from fit-out contractor 8build where he managed large commercial fit out projects, with a particular focus on the hospitality and commercial sectors.

Commenting on the new appointments, Gary Chandler, CEO of Area, said: “The appointment of Steve and Alistair will enable us to be even more responsive to the requirements of the market and help us achieve the highest standards for our customers as part of our Excellence in Delivery programme.”

Area is part of commercial design and fit-out specialists, Fourfront Group, whose service offering also includes workplace consultancy, 360 Workplace, as well as commercial furniture solutions and move management, Sketch Studios.
