Area Sq has demonstrated the success of its internship programme with the appointment of its first ever intern as a permanent member of staff.
Having completed the first year of an Interior Architecture and Design degree at Nottingham Trent University, Ryan Porter joined Area Sq in 2014 as a placement student and completed work experience in the regions design studio in London. Fourfront Group, Area Sq’s parent company, sponsored Porter throughout his final year of academic studies and gave additional support towards his final year project.
Following a successful internship journey, Area Sq has offered Porter a full-time role as junior designer in the regions team.
James Geekie, design director for Area Sq, who worked closely with Porter throughout his placement, said: “At Fourfront we believe in training and developing our staff to be the best they can be and it’s no different for our interns. Ryan was and is a great addition to the team and continuously proved himself – it’s great that he’s now a permanent member of Area Sq.”
Clive Lucking, CEO of Fourfront said: “Internships offer a fantastic opportunity for students to work in market-leading organisations, enabling them to develop valuable skills and experience, thus setting them up for a career in their chosen field. Our business is solely built through our people – and our interns are no exception. They are a great asset to the Group and play a huge role in our continued growth.”
