BaxterStorey launches state of the art restaurant at CAMPUS Reading

BaxterStorey has launched a new restaurant at CAMPUS Reading– a collaborative campus with 375,000 sq ft of dynamic, intelligent and wellness focused workspace.

Following a soft launch on 29 August, the restaurant, Campus Kitchen, opened its doors at the next generation business space on Monday 5 September.

Pioneering in the new era of togetherness, Campus Kitchen is rich with innovation, providing tenants with a unique space to meet, work, relax, and refuel, delivering a bespoke service, which according to BaxterStorey is “unlike any other office building outside of London”.

Learning from the unprecedented challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, the new restaurant not only promotes an inclusive space for customers and guests to interact but in the interest of future proofing, it harnesses the power of technology to also create a contactless environment. Digital signage and marketing will play a pivotal role in front of house service as well as behind the scenes. The restaurant provides options for online ordering, click and collect and delivery, scan, pay and go and self-service.

With plans to work towards achieving Well Accreditation, which recognises social environments which benefit the health and wellbeing of its people; the food offer provided by Campus Kitchen is based on the key principles of authenticity and accessibility. With appreciation for the nutrition and flavours that seasonality and freshness have on menus, options align with current trends and encompass important aspects of healthy eating including plant based and gluten free options.

Taking a ‘made from scratch’ approach, menus will change daily, although firm favourites will become regular features alongside many options for adventurous tastes. The restaurant will also engage with authentic local street food providers to host weekly take overs whilst educating customers on the need for more sustainable farming – with a target to reduce meat consumption at Reading International by 30 per cent.

With a team of three BaxterStorey chefs and three front of house members, Campus Kitchen is led by Chef Manager Chris Tanton who joins the new venture from Park Kitchen at Thames Valley Business Park, Reading.

Speaking of the new restaurant opening at CAMPUS Reading International, Operations Director Michael Cunningham said: “We’re excited to be part of this revolutionary new workspace and really pushing boundaries when it comes to workplace dining. Our talented teams are hugely passionate about delighting our customers with menus that celebrate the best in seasonal British produce. We look forward to working with CAMPUS Reading to champion the new era of the workspace and give all our customers a memorable dining experience.”

Creating a positive visitor experience in a Hybrid world of work

While some personnel are finally returning to the office – the great majority of organisations (up to 83 per cent) anticipate a hybrid mix of on-premises and working from home to continue for the foreseeable future.

This means that when it comes to providing access to the workplace, where once it was simply enough to maintain a welcoming reception for visitors, organisations today must also keep a close eye on access permissions in real-time to keep buildings safe and secure while ensuring they comply with compliance.

Pitney Bowes Smart Access Management in association with FMJ has produced a new White Paper which explains how to create a welcoming, actively managed environment for authorised people.

It explains how new Smart Access Management™ (SAM) delivers a complete, real-time and data-driven view of all your people, visitors and contractors, to help give you greater control and visibility.
