Balian will work alongside BIFM’s CEO, Linda Hausmanis, to help define the organisation’s future strategic direction to address new opportunities and challenges facing the sector, including meeting shifting customer expectations, attracting and nurturing talent, and adopting new practices and tools that support greater productivity and organisational performance.
Balian has a wealth of experience in the property and construction sectors, most recently as Commercial Director at the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) where she was responsible for improving and growing the institute’s member services.
She has also held a number of other senior roles including Head of Renewable Heat Incentive Operations at Ofgem and Managing Director at the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers’ commercial arm CIBSE Services, where she devised and led the rollout of key initiatives including the Low Carbon Assessor Scheme.
Speaking about the appointment, which comes at a time when the institute continues to build momentum around workplace performance, education and raising standards across the sector, Hausmanis, said: “Jacqueline will play a major role in shaping our future products and services, but she’ll also help us develop our strategy to provide the leadership our industry needs to adopt new methods and technologies that, ultimately, support greater workplace productivity.
“Continuing to demonstrate the value FM brings both directly to clients through workplace performance, as well as more broadly in terms of social mobility, relies on qualification and accrediting skills. As the nature of the workplace changes, continual education and training is essential to ensuring we attract, develop and retain the best talent from all walks of life.”
