In a series of new and improved guidance to support standards and professionalism with the facilities management sector, the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has published a new set of guidance which outlines the key concepts vital for successful supply chain management.
The guidance seeks to highlight that good supply chain management does not solely lie with selecting suppliers, which forms only part of the process. Its is also important to establish a mutually beneficial working relationship between supplier and customer, with the guidance examining concepts such as ‘information flow’, ‘mutual tolerance’, ‘transparency’ and ‘trust’.
The guidance also looks at why a formal approach is needed with regards to supply chain relationship management, the benefits to both suppliers and customer and how to establish a relationship management strategy.
