CIBSE adds to UKAS suite with ISO14001 certification

CIBSE Certification is now UKAS accredited to award ISO14001 certification. This adds to CIBSE’s existing accreditations for ISO 9001 and ISO 50001, providing a one stop shop for organisations looking for a single certification provider.

CIBSE Certification was set up as an independent entity in order to provide just this service but works in close co-operation with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

Andrew Geens, Head of CIBSE Certification, explains the benefits this brings.

“Any UKAS accredited certification body is expert in the standards but it is hugely helpful if the assessors also have a profound understanding of the sector in which the candidate organization works.”

CIBSE Certification has developed its service to provide certification for a logical suite of standards which are commonly held together by organisations working in the field of environmental management within the built environment – CIBSE’s core area of expertise.

In order to gain the UKAS accreditation, at least one witness organisation must go through the entire certification process, allowing UKAS thoroughly to check the certification body’s competence in inspection and validation. In this case Chapman BDPS and British Land, already working with CIBSE certification for other accreditation, were happy to put themselves forward.
