The latest Idea Works! event run by food and support services provider, Compass Group Group UK & Ireland saw SMEs pitch their innovative products, services and solutions within the world of food, drink, services and facilities management, with a view to getting their concept supported by the business.
Oppo Ice Cream, a delicious and healthy ice cream; Grab Go, a silicon rubber holder for serving hot plates; and Bio Bean, an initiative which turns waste coffee into carbon neutral bio fuel, were all successful at the event.
The entrepreneurs were quizzed by a panel of four judges who were impressed with the three concepts for their emphasis on health, innovation and focus on helping the environment. They will now be trialled within Compass, with a view to developing the products further and permanently offering them throughout the business.
Oliver Cock, managing director commercial, Compass Group UK & Ireland said:
“The Idea Works! continues to support SMEs by giving them an opportunity to showcase their products or services, to a panel of people who actively encourage innovation and want to provide a platform for cutting-edge ideas. The ideas we have seen come through at this event could have a real impact on our business and for our clients, we’re looking forward to seeing how the trials go.”
Since its launch in 2012, The Idea Works! has helped over 35 small businesses introduce their forward-thinking products to market through various Compass sectors. Previous participants include Eatwell Cheese, Leak Lizard, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, Hurricones and Cocktail Magic.
