EMCOR UK has been selected by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) to provide total facilities management services across its three locations in Porton Down (Wiltshire), Portsdown West (Hampshire), and Fort Halstead (Kent), UK.
The five-year contract, with two one-year options was awarded under the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Framework. An important consideration for Dstl, an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence which ensures that innovative science and technology contribute to the defence and security of the UK, was to have a collaborative, safety-focused supplier with a proven ability to maintain business-critical systems on complex, high security sites in a closely regulated sector.
The contract which began on 1 December, 2016, sees EMCOR UK responsible for providing the three Dstl sites with total facilities management services, including building fabric and systems, catering, cleaning, mechanical and electrical maintenance, energy management, advisory services and reception.
Reflecting the nature of Dstl’s work, EMCOR UK has agreed rigorous performance criteria within the contract, including on-site and operational safety, security, equipment availability and speed of response.
Keith Chanter, CEO, EMCOR UK, commented:
“We’re particularly pleased that EMCOR UK has been awarded this prestigious and significant contract by Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), because of the comprehensive nature of the services and expertise required to meet the exacting customer requirements. We’re also excited by the prospect of working in a highly collaborative manner with an organisation that is at the heart of science and technology for the Defence and Security of the UK. This is the first contract EMCOR UK has won under the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Framework and we are hopeful that more will be on the horizon.”
