A new careers website dedicated to promoting jobs and training in facilities management has been launched by Asset Skills, an industry skills body for FM.
The site contains a wide range of material from career guides, job profiles and case studies, to FM-specific labour market information suitable for careers advisers.
The information is open-access, free to download and is designed to be easy to navigate and appropriate for people of all ages. Users can research careers in facilities management and cleaning and also obtain one-to-one careers information and advice from an in-house careers service (by phone or email).
“Our new careers section is part of our continued efforts to get facilities management to be seen as a career of choice among young people,” said Sarah Bentley, Chief Executive of Asset Skills.
“We will be promoting the site in schools and to work-related learning contacts. By the end of the year, we hope most schools in the UK will be accessing and using this online ecareers advice and information.
“This is just a taster of things to come from our careers and information, advice and guidance programme. The next stage is to increase the number of FM companies getting involved with schools with the aim of reducing the gap between education and employment.”
The new site is available at www.assetskills.org/fmcareers
This programme has received co-investment from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills through the Employer Investment Fund.
