The Government Procurement Office (GPS) appears keen to leave no stone unturned with regards consulting suppliers on its new facilities management contracting model and has announced a webinar to explain its proposals to those FM businesses that might have thus far slipped its net.
Since it set out proposals for its new procurement model, which is due to commence early next year, the GPS, via its regional conferences and one to one supplier clinics, has taken practical steps to meet up with and consult with any businesses, which may be interested in bidding for government FM contracts.
Under the new proposals GPS will procure FM contracts on behalf of central government departments to drive further efficiencies and savings through its new Facilities Management Contracting Model (FMCM) giving customers access to a range of specific services including total facilities management, hard FM and soft FM services such as cleaning, security, waste management and catering.
The new contracting vehicle will also include an FM Marketplace providing a quick and efficient route to market for low value contracts, allowing a large number of providers, from SMEs to multi-national organisations, to participate by following a basic pre-approved supplier approach.
The GPS team will be holding a webinar on Tuesday 12 November at 11am to provide suppliers who could not attend previous meetings with an overview of the information presented at the conferences. The webinar will provide an outline of the proposed new contracting model, its key features and an overview of the proposed timescales for delivery. There will also be an opportunity to ask the FMCM project team questions.
If you would like to attend please email FMCM@gps.gsi.gov.uk to register your interest no later than Tuesday 30 October.
