“Guards vs. Technology – which is best?”

A white paper published this month on protecting vacant commercial properties highlights the reasons why prevention is better than cure. “Manned Guards Versus Technology – which is best?” reveals some of the risks to commercial properties that are temporarily vacant and left without adequate protection.

VPS, Europe’s largest vacant property specialist, outlines the additional vulnerabilities that empty properties are subject to from the weather, utility leaks, vandalism and squatting. It then assesses the strengths and limitations of both manned guarding and technological solutions.

“There are about 30,000 empty shops alone in the UK” explains Simon Alderson, Commercial Director for VPS and also the BSIA’s chairman of their Vacant Property Protection Group: “ The white paper provides a clear guide on the choices available for protecting them and when they are best utilised. We hope property owners and landlords find it a useful tool to help them protect their assets whilst they seek to re-let them or sell them.”

20,000 properties a year that are managed and looked after by VPS find new tenants or owners. For a copy of the white paper click here or email uk@vpspecialists.com tel. 08706 08706 2
