Interserve’s construction joint venture Khansaheb, has secured a contract worth £81 million with Middle East developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), to expand and upgrade the City Centre Ajman mall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Under the terms of the deal, Khansaheb will more than double the size of the existing mall from 32,000m2 to 70,000m2, expand a number of retails units and build a new car park, creating 2,400 new parking spaces.
The contract also includes the addition of new mechanical and electrical installations to serve the expanded mall, the creation of new walkways, food courts, offices and a children’s entertainment venue. It further includes exterior landscaping work and the re-configuration of access roads leading to the mall.
In order for the existing mall and facilities to remain fully functional and open to the public, the project will be delivered in a number of phases, and is expected to be completed by July 2018.
Commenting on the contract win, Steve Flint, Khansaheb’s general manager said:
“This contract win demonstrates Majid Al Futtaim Group’s ongoing confidence in Khansaheb’s capabilities in the retail sector, as it closely follows the successful expansion of Dubai’spremier shopping centre, Mall of the Emirates.”
