ISS Facility Services Landscaping has been awarded a second Gold RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) Award at the RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Awards 2012. This honour clearly demonstrates ISS’s industry leading health and safety record and on-going commitment to keeping the health and well being of both their workforce and clients safe.
ISS’s continuous Health and Safety development has this year included improved Management Systems such as upgraded manager’s guidelines and safe systems of work, and an automated risk assessment tool which assists managers and supervisors in the process of identifying and quantifying risk thus freeing up much needed management time. Also introduced to the RoSPA application this year was ISS’s in-house Lantra Approved Practical Skills Award which fully encompasses Health & Safety within the training modules.
On receiving the Gold Award, Robin Jackson, Compliance Manager, ISS Facility Services Landscaping said ‘it is a fantastic achievement to secure this prestigious award for two consecutive years and emphasises our commitment to occupational health and safety across our business. Health and Safety is always right at the top of our agenda and continues to be a key focus for our organisation. This year has seen the global launch of ISS’s ‘Drive to Zero’ campaign, which is all about preventing accidents and harm, and encourages each and every ISS employee to take responsibility in eliminating risk behaviour in themselves and others.”
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “the RoSPA Awards programme provides well-deserved recognition for the winners and spurs on other organisations to raise their standards of accident and ill health prevention. We congratulate ISS on its success and encourage it, and all our other winners, to remain committed to safety and health, an approach that is well recognised to be good for workers and the bottom line.”
Dating back to 1956, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme does not just look at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
