JLL UK and its internal design and fit-out business Tetris have been certified with the Living Wage Employer Mark, as announced by the Living Wage Foundation this week.
As a Living Wage employer, all of JLL’s directly employed staff will be paid at or above the real Living Wage. This will also be embedded into all of JLL’s contracts with suppliers who provide staff to its corporate and residential offices over the next three years.
The Living Wage Foundation has also accredited JLL’s Integrated Facilities Management (JLL Services) and its Property & Asset Management businesses (JLL Resources) with Living Wage Recognised Service Provider status. This means suppliers will be required to provide bids which include a Living Wage option for JLL’s clients.
Sophie Walker, Head of UK Sustainability, JLL, said: “When we launched our Building a Better Tomorrow sustainability UK targets for 2020 earlier this year, we committed to becoming a Living Wage accredited business because we believe a fair day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. Employees who are paid fairly are happier and as a result, businesses benefit from reduced absenteeism, reduced HR costs, and the overall result is greater productivity. Furthermore, our accreditation supports our commitment to positively impacting the communities we work in.
“JLL will be doing lots of work to champion its Recognised Provider status as it’s a huge opportunity to influence a large supply chain. We’ll make sure we always raise a Living Wage bid/tender with customers wherever we do business in the UK, in addition to the type of bid the customer has asked for. This ensures Living Wage is considered in traditionally low paid sectors like cleaning and hospitality.”
