Pierce McAllorum, EMEA Engineering and Sustainability Manager on the LinkedIn Account for JLL, has won the Newcomer of the Year category at this year’s prestigious British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Ireland Awards.
The announcement was made on Friday afternoon (16th November) at a glittering awards ceremony at Dublin’s Conrad Hotel in front of the industry’s leading figures. Pierce faced fierce competition in this category – including Erin Quinn, CBRE at Johnson Controls; Barry Wilson from Arup; Bernie Mcmanamon at Sodexo, and Michael Duhig from OCS. The award recognises new talent in the profession, identifying individuals who have made a significant impact on the provision of FM services within the first three years of their FM career.
Pierce started his career as an apprentice elctrician, later moving into the hotel sector as an engineer working in a range of five-star and four-star hotels in Dublin. He got his break into FM in 2016, taking on all the hard and soft services for a hotel from cleaning, security and waste management to engineering and parking. He then joined JLL to take up the newly-created engineering and sustainability role across EMEA for LinkedIn.
As a BIFM member since 2012, Pierce takes his commitment to continuing professional development very seriously having completed a range of courses including the ILM Level 5 Certificate in FM, which he self-funded. In the next few months, he starts the BIFM FM Professional course.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been recognised by the BIFM for this prestigious award,” said Pierce. “Moving into FM was the best decision I ever made.”
“Pierce consistently goes far above and beyond what is expected of his role,” added Lily Ellis, account director for JLL on the LinkedIn account. “He acts like an owner on behalf of JLL, consistently driving outcomes in the best interest of the company across EMEA and offering insights globally, a fact very much recognised within both companies. He is a worthy winner of this award.”
