Kier continues to support residents in Barnsley

Kier has extended its Property Repairs and Improvement Partnership (PIRP) with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, which maintains thousands of homes across the town in South Yorkshire.

The partnership has been successful for the last decade and as a result of the unprecedented Covid-19 situation, the decision has been made for Kier to continue providing its service to residents across Barnsley for another three months until the end of June.

Kier will carry out essential repairs, gas servicing and void services for 6,500 properties in the region. The works carried out will further support the region through Kier’s supply chain, with 96 per cent of supplies sourced locally.

Mark Whittaker, Managing Director of Kier Specialist Services, commented:: “Our skilled, passionate and dedicated teams have been tirelessly serving residents of Barnsley for the last 10 years and we are pleased that this is set to continue.

“During this unprecedented time, we have been agile to respond to the council’s needs to provide a consistent and good service to its residents. Our work will continue with the pride and performance that there has always been, to ensure people’s homes are safe and maintained over this time.”

Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “We’re pleased to be continuing to work with Kier Housing Maintenance to provide the best possible service to our residents.

“Berneslai Homes Construction Services continue to provide an emergency repairs void and gas servicing for two thirds of the council housing during these unprecedented times.

“I would like to thank Kier for their professionalism and continued support during this difficult time.”
