What impact has the Covid-19 pandemic had on learning and development in FM? That’s the question that learning provider International Workplace is seeking to answer for a key conference this month.
The company’s CEO David Sharp is presenting a session on the subject at the RICS Strategic FM Conference on 16 June – the first time L&D has been featured in the conference programme. As part of the research, International Workplace wants to hear from anyone involved in the planning, delivery or administration of training, to find out about the impact of Covid-19 and what it’s meant for service providers and their clients.
Research will be conducted through a series of confidential 15-minute conversations, giving the chance to gain insight ‘off the record’. The results of the research will be presented at the conference and published in a free summary report, providing a snapshot of L&D at this key time for the FM sector.
Sharp commented: “We want to capture a snapshot of what’s happening right now. Training has been much talked-about while people have been furloughed, and businesses have spun on a sixpence to move training from the classroom to the virtual meeting room.
“We’re interested to find out how people have coped, what they’ve learned, and whether they’ll ever go back to the classroom environment. But perhaps most importantly of all, with the whole economy still under threat, we’re interested in how they see learning and development contributing to organisational performance – so it’s seen as a value add, rather than a cost to be cut.”
The initiative is supported by i-FM.net, FMJ Magazine, and the IFMA UK chapter.
