New security solution to ‘mind the gap’ for London Underground

People walking beside tube train cut out effect CarolineDMGLondon Underground has awarded a contract to design, supply and install a centrally controlled, electronic security system at a number of sites across the capital.

The security solution from Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) includes cameras, video analytics and a perimeter intruder detection system.

HBS project manager, Lee Merryweather, comments:

“The combined Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) and Digital Video Manager (DVM) solution will facilitate site-wide monitoring of the CCTV and alarm system, giving London Underground greater awareness of threats. It will also enable uniform management of incidents and deliver high quality evidential proof that can be handed over to the British Transport Police.”

The project is due for completion later this year, after which additional sites and services such as access control will be integrated into the network.
