Novus continues success story in Yorkshire

Novus Property Solutions has secured a four-year maintenance contract with Harrogate Borough Council to fit approximately 300 kitchens per year.

The maintenance and build contractor, which recently streamlined its market offering into three dedicated work streams as part of its transformational long-term growth strategy, is set to carry out kitchen replacement works on 1,200 properties during the contract term.

Through its newly-defined Maintain service, the deal will see Novus carrying out full high quality kitchen replacements in Harrogate Borough Council’s property portfolio, which spans Harrogate, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Masham and the City of Ripon.  These works include asbestos removal, plumbing, electrical and gas pipework installation and removal, joinery, and decorating.

Novus has also committed to giving back to the local community in several ways throughout the duration of the contract. Novus has pledged to use 90 per cent local labour as well as local suppliers, and will provide two-week work experience placements for local students. Furthermore, the contractor will provide volunteering opportunities for its colleagues in the Harrogate area and will donate £500 per year in goods and cash to local charities.

The contract began in June 2021 and Novus’ team is expected to begin on-site works in October 2021, following the completion of joint surveys.

Commenting on the contract win, Novus Property Solutions’ Head of Operations, Charlie Cooley, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract with Harrogate Borough Council, as part of our strategic growth ambitions. Novus’ team has the skills to successfully deliver this programme of works, with over 35 years’ experience in installing kitchens for social housing and local authorities.

“This experience, combined with our drive to continuously improve and the strength of our workforce of more than 770 directly employed colleagues, makes Novus a supplier of choice. We’re particularly pleased to be gaining further prominence in the Yorkshire region, with further contract wins in both Hull and Leeds.”

Vincent van der Meulen, Operations Manager (Client) at Harrogate Borough Council, added: “We are very excited to work with Novus so that Harrogate Borough Council tenants receive excellent social housing kitchens, built by local craftsmen using quality materials.”
