Novus grows presence in education sector

National maintenance and compliance contractor, Novus Property Solutions, has seen its presence increase within the education sector following a number of recent contract and framework wins for universities and colleges across the north of England.

These latest awards follow a highly successful first half of the year for the business which implemented an ambitious five-year growth strategy last year.

The highest value win is an estimated £1.5 million two-year Building Works measured term contract working with the University of Newcastle with the option to extend for a further two years. The framework will see the contractor carrying out building refurbishments and improvement works throughout the University’s property portfolio.

Novus has also been awarded a further higher education contract in Ormskirk, Lancashire. The three-year measured term contract, with the option to extend for a further year, will see Novus’ expert team complete minor works and maintenance for Edge Hill University, bringing in £50,000 to £500,000 per project.

Following four successful years working with York College, Novus has won a place on a three-year framework agreement that will see its team carry out a range of painting and decorating services across the college campus. Novus will work throughout the college to create a more modern and contemporary feel for students, staff and visitors.

Furthermore, highlighting Novus’ reach throughout Great Britain, the contractor has been awarded a significant contract just under £100,000 with the University of Worcester, to deliver a fast-track refurbishment to the lecture rooms on St Johns Campus.

Commenting on these latest wins, Lee Hartley, Executive Director at Novus Property Solutions said: “We’re delighted to have won a number of contracts and frameworks within the education sector in the first half of this year, as we continue to build upon the successful launch of our business-wide growth strategy.

“These latest contract wins throughout England demonstrate our growing reputation as a maintenance and refurbishment contractor of choice within the education sector, and we look forward to delivering high quality results for each of these valued clients.”

Creating a positive visitor experience in a Hybrid world of work

While some personnel are finally returning to the office – the great majority of organisations (up to 83 per cent) anticipate a hybrid mix of on-premises and working from home to continue for the foreseeable future.

This means that when it comes to providing access to the workplace, where once it was simply enough to maintain a welcoming reception for visitors, organisations today must also keep a close eye on access permissions in real-time to keep buildings safe and secure while ensuring they comply with compliance.

Pitney Bowes Smart Access Management in association with FMJ has produced a new White Paper which explains how to create a welcoming, actively managed environment for authorised people.

It explains how new Smart Access Management™ (SAM) delivers a complete, real-time and data-driven view of all your people, visitors and contractors, to help give you greater control and visibility.
