Novus wins £44 million maintenance contract with Home Group

Novus Property Solutions has been awarded a £44 million maintenance contract with Home Group in Scotland to carry out a range of planned and reactive maintenance works on approximately 4,000 properties across Scotland over a period of six years, with the option to extend the contract for a further four years. It will also include the provision of compliance works on properties within the region.

The contract comes as part of an important period of investment for Novus, which includes the launch of a new business development initiative to transform the company into one of the UK’s leading 21st century contractors. As part of its new business development strategy Novus has invested in the customer journey, which will remain a key focus throughout its work with Home Group, and is implementing a new digital works management system that will allow the company to oversee the works from a central point.

This significant award by Home Group will see all three of Novus’ Scottish offices involved across the four lots of works. The contract will help to drive growth and further investment within Novus’ Scotland region, which is set to include a sustainability-focused refurbishment of its Bathgate office – transforming it into the company’s flagship ‘green office’.

Prior to being awarded this contract, Novus has worked with Home Group in Scotland for eight years providing maintenance services to the housing association’s large portfolio of properties.

Commenting on the contract win, Novus Property Solutions’ Chief Operating Officer Lee Hartley said:

“We’re delighted to have re-secured our contract with Home Group for the provision of maintenance and compliance services for its property portfolio across Scotland, and to continue to build on our existing positive working relationship with the organisation. This is a period of significant investment for Novus, which includes continuing to improve on the services we provide to both our clients and end-users, who are at the heart of this contract.

“It provides job security for hundreds of people within the region during these uncertain times, and we look forward to continuing our work with Home Group to achieve an exceptional maintenance and compliance service.”

Paul Walker, Director of Maintenance at Home Group commented:

“We’re pleased to have reappointed Novus in Scotland after a competitive and thorough process. As part of our customer promise to deliver a reliable repairs service, we look forward to working together on a brilliant repair service as well as continuous improvement in customer experience such as two-way digital communication and a preventative maintenance programme.”

FMJ and Grundon Waste Management have launched the 2021 waste and recycling management survey. It’s the fourth year for the annual appraisal of how FMs manage their waste and recycling activities and one which marks an unprecedented period of disruption to services due to the pandemic.

In order to understand how FMs have navigated their way through the last year and their plans for meeting stringent waste and recycling targets we’ve posed a series of questions – aided by the advice and experience of our editorial steering committee.

The results of the 2021 survey will be published in FMJ magazine and form the basis of a white paper co-written by FMJ and the experts at Grundon on how to approach waste and recycling strategies.
