Prince’s Trust trainee James Hines has accepted OCS’s offer of employment after successfully completing his work placement at London Luton Airport.

The 18-year-old is one of 16 young people who participated in The Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Airports’ initiative run in partnership with London Luton Airport. The four-week programme, which ended on 14 December, included two weeks of intensive training with The Prince’s Trust and two weeks on work placement with one of the companies supplying services to the airport.

James’s day-to-day work with OCS will continue to involve assisting persons with reduced mobility (PRMs), helping landing passengers to collect their luggage, and providing good customer service to airport users in need of help.

His managers and team agree that he did an excellent job on placement and are delighted to offer him employment. Asha Mandal, passenger service assistant, said: “James has a very caring nature, is very polite, and gets on well with people. He works very well on his own, uses his initiative, follows OCS policies and is also a team player. He has proven to be very motivated in this job role. We’re pleased to have him on the team.”

James said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with OCS, working with such a great team and having the opportunity to help others. I’m very pleased to accept this offer of work. I plan to continue to work hard to help people, and to do so with a smile on my face.”

The Prince’s Trust gives disadvantaged young people the skills and confidence to find a job. Three in four young people helped by The Prince’s Trust move into work training or education.
