PHS Group plc, the UK’s leading workplace services provider, has achieved a creditable 48th ranking in the latest Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table, which was published on Sunday 14th October 2012.
The league table ranks Britain’s 250 leading, mid-market private companies, who must have increased sales or operating profit in their latest available accounts to be included. It complements the Sunday Times Top Track 100 league table of Britain’s biggest private companies by the same criteria, listing the next 250 biggest companies in line.
Gareth Rhys Williams, Group Chief Executive of the PHS Group, comments:
“I am very pleased that PHS continues to do well in the Top Track 250, with this year’s ranking of number 48. We maintained our creditable position in the league table despite last year’s challenging economic backdrop, through a combination of remarkable staff commitment, listening to our customers so that we keep on delivering the products and services they want in the way that they want them, and selective acquisitions carefully chosen to extend or enhance our offer.
“I’m proud of everyone in the company for their individual contributions to our solid performance and to the attainment of this important national recognition.”
The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table is sponsored by Grant Thornton and Barclays, and compiled by Fast Track, the UK’s leading networking events and research company. The 250 companies in this year’s league table generated combined sales of £77 billion and employed 494,000 staff – equivalent to roughly 5% of GDP and 1.7% of the UK workforce – in tough conditions.
David Maxwell, partner at Grant Thornton, the title sponsor of the league table, praised the UK’s mid-market stars:
“It is great to see privately owned companies – including many which Grant Thornton has helped to support – making such a positive contribution to the UK economy.
“Impressive leadership is ensuring they prosper despite tough trading conditions, with many companies expanding through their international operations and all making sure they retain and engage talented people in the UK.”
