Last night, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) launched their new RICS Strategic Facilities Management (FM) case studies, building on the theme of professionalising FM.
To mark the launch, and in reference to one of the studies, which focuses on KPMG’s initiative to support the Living Wage, RICS held an event at KPMG’s London offices in Canary Wharf. The case studies outline how businesses, large and small, can make the most of Strategic FM to enhance their business’ performance.
The event showcased a range of speakers, including those featured within the case studies themselves. Guy Stallard, Head of Facilities at KPMG, spoke about the work he and his team have put into reducing the high levels of staff turnover amongst services staff at his organisation, through the introduction of the Living Wage. Stallard explained his remit was to make the change to the Living Wage cost-neutral, and the subsequent challenges this posed.
David Sharp, Managing Director of International Workplace, who drafted the document, comments: “We are seeing increased demand for a consistent approach to facilities management among clients operating in international markets. We were again delighted to work with RICS on this second series of case studies that both reflect the growth of FM as a recognised professional discipline and we hope illustrate the approach being adopted by leading organisations to address the challenges and opportunities of economic, social and technological change.”
