Securing Facilities By Philip Ingram MBE

If the FM world doesn’t have 28th November firmly inked into diaries, then you are missing probably the best event in the calendar for the security side of the business. There is a complete day of lectures from the likes of Pool Re, who manage your terrorism reinsurance (don’t forget to ask them about VSAT as it gets up to 10% off your premiums), the Home Office Emergency Planning College and so much more, and that is just at the Facilities Management Conference.

What am I talking about? Well it is this year’s International Security Expo being held at London Olympia on 28th and 29th November where there are 13 free to attend conferences delivering over 55 hours of certified CPD training and an expected visitor audience of 12,500. That’s not to mention the expo side of it with 350 exhibitors and over 1000 products on display with an amazing Protecting Urban Spaces demonstrator showing many of them working together in a realistic setting built inside the expo hall.

However, there are many other conferences with content of interest, the Designing out Terrorism conference will highlight issues with your ‘Grey Space’. The Night Time Economy, Retail Security, Cyber Security and Business Continuity conferences all have content relevant to facilities managers and the wider networking, especially on day one from 1700hrs is second to none (if you get my drift).

The one reminder is that the whole thing is free if you register up front, so it is worth visiting www.internationalsecurityexpo.com and registering now. A new thing this year is the co-location of another event the International Disaster response Expo and your one event pass will allow entry to both and that is why I say this even must be firmly inked into your diaries.
