Sodexo Ireland wins IFM deal with Dublin Institute of Technology

Sodexo has been awarded its first third level integrated facilities management (IFM) contract in Ireland in respect of the new €220 million Central and East Quads about to be built on the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) Campus at Grangegorman.

The IFM contract, the first of its kind for an Irish university, will see Sodexo manage and deliver all FM services, including cleaning, waste management, building and engineering maintenance, caretaking, security, utilities and energy management, landscaping and lifecycle management, once the quads are completed and ready for use. The first building is due to open in 2020.

DIT accounts for almost 10 per cent of the total higher education sector in Ireland and all its activities, previously in 39 separate citywide locations, will be brought together at Grangegorman. In two years’ time, it is anticipated that over 10,000 students and 600 members of staff will be based on the campus in Dublin’s north inner city.

Deirdre Saunders, Account Director, Schools and Universities, Sodexo Ireland said: “We are very proud to be a part of this landmark educational project for Dublin. It’s our first full integrated facilities management contract for the university sector in Ireland. There is enormous potential for us to support DIT Grangegorman in its strategic objectives, particularly around improving its physical environment and optimising the use of space to meet the changing needs of students, faculty and staff. It is a truly fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the full scope and scale of our capabilities in integrated facilities management, as well as our student experience expertise.”

Sodexo already delivers full IFM services at 10 PPP second level schools throughout Ireland in addition to catering services at Trinity College Dublin and NUI Galway.
