Sodexo is delivering cleaning and portering services at the new Nightingale hospital in Bristol, which was officially opened on 27 April 2020.
The hospital, which is based at the University of the West of England, is a part of the national effort to respond to the coronavirus health emergency and will open a small number of beds in the first instance. Over time it will expand to accommodate 300 patients if this is required.
Sodexo staff are being redeployed from their usual places of work to work at the hospital.
Stuart Winters, CEO Healthcare, Sodexo UK & Ireland said: “It is a great honour to see our teams working in partnership with the wider industry, sharing expertise to help the NHS fight the threat posed by Covid-19.
“I applaud and thank colleagues who have moved from one side of our business to another to use their skills in helping others in these challenging times.
“We are all working together to help in the effort to fight Covid-19. We stand ready to respond to further requests for support as the pandemic unfolds.”
The NHS Nightingale Hospital Bristol is run by North Bristol NHS Trust and is designed to provide the highest level of specialist care for critically ill coronavirus patients in the Severn area critical care network.
