Dougie Sutherland, Managing Director of Interserve’s development division has stepped down from the Board of Directors with immediate effect, a week after a major shareholder of the company called for the removal of eight board members, which included Sutherland.
Sutherland joined Interserve in 2006 and took up a place on the Board of Directors in January 2011. During his time at Interserve he was a key player in the company’s transformation programme ‘Fit for Growth’ integrating the developments business into support services, and the integration of the firm’s UK and International Construction businesses.
Debbie White, CEO of Interserve plc said: “I would like to thank Dougie for his contribution to Interserve over the last 12 years and particularly for his support during the last 18 months, during which time he has led a range of initiatives and changes which will contribute to our future success.”
Last week, the international support services, construction and equipment services company issued a statement which said it had received a letter from shareholder Coltrane Master Fund, requisitioning a General Meeting of the Company’s shareholders.
The Requisition Notice proposes resolutions that Glyn Barker, Mark Whiteling, Russell King, Anne Fahy, Nick Salmon, Gareth Edwards, Dougie Sutherland and Nicholas Pollard be removed as directors of the Company.
Sutherland will be leaving the company’s Executive Team on 28 February 2019. He said: “I have enjoyed working for Interserve and while I am leaving the company I am pleased to have contributed to the ‘Fit for Growth’ programme which I am sure will be a foundation for the future success of the company.”
