Three new senior appointments at Catering Academy

Catering Academy’s new Company Executive Chef, Mark Owen

Following the recent appointment of managing director of client services, Simon Willis, Catering Academy has added further expertise to its company structure with the appointment of three new senior team members.

The national independent contract catering company is continuing to invest in the structure of its company, to ensure sustained business development despite tough times in the industry and wider economy.

Mark Owen (pictured above), Clare Flanagan and Kirstine Bailey join Team Academy as company executive chef, director of operations and area manager south respectively.

New company executive chef, Mark Owen, joins Catering Academy from BaxterStorey. Impressed with his creative flair and passion for food innovation, Team Academy was keen to marry up Owen’s expertise with its vision for future development. He, along with his team, will now be responsible for reviewing and cultivating food delivery across the company on a national level.

Speaking about his appointment, Owen, said:

“I am looking forward to bringing a fresh, new and exciting dynamic to the food culture Team Academy has successfully established. It is clear to me that Catering Academy is going from strength to strength and as a result it is exciting to be part of the business going forward.”

Catering Academy’s new operations director, Clare Flanagan, joins Team Academy having spent the last ten years at Aramark, where she held the position of regional operations director. She will be responsible for client service delivery, contract retention and team management and development, whilst maintaining a focus on achieving great food and financial targets.

Finally, Kirstine Bailey joins Team Academy from Harrison Catering, where she was area manager for five years. Bailey will be responsible for Catering Academy’s business and industry offering as area manager for the South. Kirstine will also apply a special focus on food standards and food innovations whilst maintaining cost control.

The new team appointments will allow founder & operations director, Louise Wymer, more time to step out of the day-to-day running of the company and focus more on special projects and strategic planning.

Speaking about the appointments, Wymer said:

“The appointments of Clare, Mark and Kirstine demonstrate the ambition and desire that we have as a company to both deliver service excellence to our current contracts and also on our future projects as we continue to grow.”

Catering Academy continues with its ambitious plans for growth, with current turnover now exceeding £30 million. Significant contract wins in the business, industry, education and healthcare sectors include; Cheshire Police HQ, the University of Bolton, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, The Studio Venue Company, William Brookes School and Adams Grammar School.
