Two new university deals for Apleona

Apleona HSG Facility Management UK has won new contracts with two renowned UK universities.

The FM and workspace services provider has commenced delivery of a new, long-term multi-million pound contract secured with the University of Roehampton.

The five-year deal worth in excess of £12 million, sees Apleona providing cleaning, pest control, window cleaning, feminine hygiene plus hotel and conferencing services to multiple sites located within the south-west London campus.

More than 100 employees have TUPEd over to Apleona from previous service providers and in-house teams,  70 per cent of whom are now first-time outsourcing employed.

Mike Hall, Chief Information Officer and Director of Campus Services said: “We are very pleased to be able to partner with a firm with such a strong track record in the field as Apleona. We hope it will allow us to continue to deliver an excellent experience to our students, staff and visitors to our campus.”

In addition, Apleona has also secured an extension to a contract first agreed with University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in 2014. Based in Preston with a student and staff community approaching 38,000, UCLan is one of the UK’s largest universities for which Apleona will deliver services including M&E reactive and planned maintenance, cleaning, security, grounds maintenance, pest control, waste and window cleaning.

Jon Fahie, Director of Estates Services Director of Estates Services at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) said: “The University is really happy to extend its contract with Apleona. As one of the largest universities in the UK, we have a growing estate where we are rolling out our £200 million Campus Masterplan development. We are delighted that Apleona, through its full range of service provision, will play a full part in our future success.”

James Thoden van Velzen, Apleona UK and Ireland Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am delighted to welcome almost 100 new colleagues after we successfully mobilised and commenced the new University of Roehampton contract.

“In addition to securing new work, impressing a client sufficiently to agree an extension to an existing relationship is equally rewarding and I am pleased that we have done precisely this with University of Central Lancashire.”
