US$7.5m+ deal gives Gooee control of its ‘Data Brain’ for smart buildings

Gooee takes ownership of cloud infrastructure using EVRYTHNG technology to deliver the ‘Data Brain’ for building activity analytics and future machine learning solutions

Gooee, the award-winning Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem that provides space and occupancy analytics, wireless lighting control and beacon networking via a platform for the smart building industry, and EVRYTHNG, the IoT Cloud Software pioneer, has strengthened their partnership agreement, providing Gooee with a perpetual license to use EVRYTHNG’s IoT Smart Products data platform technology to operate its own ‘full-stack’ solution in a US$7.5m+ licensing and equity deal.

The deal gives Gooee access to the complete EVRYTHNG technology stack, enabling a convergence of the cloud platforms that will bring world-class technology to the Smart Building market using ‘Lighting-as-a-Host’. By combining best-in-class cloud technologies from both companies, the collaboration and unification of the systems will create a highly-scalable solution and better flexibility for lighting and smart building value-chains.

The two companies have been collaborating on the development of intelligent solutions for the lighting and energy services sectors over the past two years. The new agreement enables each company to focus on their respective target markets with more engineering flexibility, while allowing for shared opportunities across multiple verticals.

Andrew Johnson, Gooee’s CEO and founder, says, “By bringing the EVRYTHNG technology base into Gooee, we are now a truly ‘full-stack’ technology company, able to offer our customers a complete end-to-end solution to manage access to customer data, whilst accelerating the development of platform features.”

He added, “Alongside this, the relationship allows us to partner on joint opportunities, such as using our sensor and beacon network, to help with product tracking for the consumer goods market – it’s a really exciting step forward for Gooee.”

In the build-up to the European Launch at LuxLive 2017, Nov 15-16, Excel London, Gooee is piloting with a number of partners including Aurora Lighting, in association with BMW at its Munich Experience Center.

The EVRYTHNG platform has been in use by global brands including Coca Cola, Diageo, Avery Dennison, iHome and many more, managing billions of digital identities around the world. With the equivalent of 60+ years’ worth of engineering that has contributed to its scalability and robustness, EVRYTHNG technology will support Gooee in operating tens of millions of intelligent lighting and sensing endpoints in a global network, and with managing the huge volumes of data that flow from and around these products to drive innovative applications and services.

Niall Murphy, co-founder and CEO of EVRYTHNG, who has played a key role in the Gooee partnership from the start, commented, “From the start, we’ve had a shared vision with Gooee of how lighting will create a ubiquitous sensory network in buildings at a global scale. We are incredibly excited to be developing our partnership further and enabling Gooee to apply EVRYTHNG’s technology in a highly integrated way to bring this to life. With EVRYTHNG providing a digital identity to millions of products, the sensory platform, enabled by lighting, will be a fundamental data-capture infrastructure for Gooee’s smart building ecosystem and to connect these identities.”

Murphy will also be taking up a position on the Gooee Board representing EVRYTHNG.
