Wates renews maintenance deal with Network Homes

Social housing maintenance specialist, Wates Living Space, has been reappointed by Network Homes to continue the maintenance of the housing association’s 14,000 properties.

The new five-year deal, worth £40 million, will commence this November and will see Wates continue to deliver repairs and maintenance services incorporating responsive, planned, and voids work across Greater and North West London.

Under the current contract, which began in 2016, Wates has already delivered:

  • Over 30,000 repairs and 400 voids each year
  • 500 free level one and two NVQ and equivalent training courses for local people
  • 400 places for local people on CV and interview workshops
  • 800 staff volunteer hours
  • Support for local people in need through a dedicated food pantry initiative
  • Regular support for local businesses and social enterprises

Gary Wilkinson, Regional Managing Director, Wates Living Space said: “We are extremely proud of what we have achieved in partnership with Network Homes during our first five years working together. Not only have we demonstrated continued high-quality work across their properties, but we have also made a lasting impact on local people and businesses through our training, employment and volunteering initiatives.

“Alongside the great work our teams have done improving people’s homes and our support for the local community, we are also trying to limit our impact on the environment during our works. We have committed to converting all vans used on the contract to electric by 2025, donating 10,000 trees and providing Network Homes with access to the Wates Innovation Network, a new portal which connects partners to a marketplace of suppliers of sustainable innovations that can help tackle environmental challenges.”

Gerry Doherty, Network Homes Executive Director of Customer Services, commented: “We’re pleased to be continuing our successful partnership with Wates for a further five years and we aim to build on the progress already made on delivering a high-quality repair service to residents. Wates’ commitment to sustainability and providing a greener service sits well with our values as is the continuation of their offer of training, qualifications and support for those looking for employment.”
