Zest Recycle in Essex County Fire & Rescue total waste win

Waste management and recycling firm, Zest Recycle, has won a four-year waste services contract with Essex County Fire & Rescue Service across its 48 locations.

The contract is an extension of Zest Recycle’s earlier successful bid and roll out in May 2021 of the recycling and waste management contract for the Seven Force (7F) Strategic Procurement Collaboration Programme.

The Seven Force (7F) Strategic Procurement Collaboration is a joint procurement agreement for policing services across seven counties (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk). Essex County Fire & Rescue Service falls under the jurisdiction of the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and it was identified that the service could benefit from the added value that was being delivered by Zest Recycle through the 7F partnership.

The criteria for the initial contract award focused on areas such as quality and compliance, contract mobilisation, carbon reduction and social value. The invitation also outlined a strong emphasis on working with one single all-encompassing provider that was committed to using SME businesses with local expertise to manage waste resources.

As its new partner for waste and recycling services, Zest Recycle will provide total waste management services that meet the partnership’s strict compliance standards, whilst also delivering on the Services all important sustainability and social value goals.

Tony McPartland, Zest Recycle Managing Director commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with 7F on this contract. Among a number of key factors to securing this contract, we were able to demonstrate the synergies in our business model and our approach to working with local SMEs, with 7F’s aims to deliver Social Value back to local communities. This coupled with our strong emphasis on compliance and the depth of our experience, makes this a natural partnership and we look forward to working together to deliver sustainable solutions.

Waste Management and Recycling Survey

FMJ in conjunction with Grundon Waste Management have launched the 2022 survey into how FMs approach their waste management and recycling responsibilities.

It’s the fifth year for the annual appraisal, and as we return to normal, there is a real opportunity for FMs to reappraise their waste and recycling operations and look at new, smarter waste management strategies.

In order to understand how FMs have navigated their way through the last year and their plans for meeting stringent waste and recycling targets we’ve posed a series of questions which include insights into FMs’ waste management strategy and targets, such as zero waste and landfill, the types of waste organisations produce and what helps FMs promote waste management in their organisations?

Please share your experiences and opinions on waste management. The survey will take just five minutes to complete, and as a thank you for taking part, respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 Amazon gift card.
