United Infrastructure’s subsidiary, Social Infrastructure, has been awarded an £8.2 million contract by Phoenix Community Housing to deliver essential energy efficiency upgrades to homes across South London.
Phoenix is a not-for-profit resident-led housing association that manages over 7,600 homes in Lewisham and is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of its residents and tackling fuel poverty through long-term investment in its housing stock. The Phoenix SHDF Wave 3 Retrofit Project supports broader local and national objectives to create greener, more sustainable homes, while boosting energy efficiency and reducing household carbon emissions.
Spanning neighbourhoods in Bellingham, Whitefoot, Downham and Grove Park within the London Borough of Lewisham, the Phoenix Wave 3 Retrofit Project will see United Infrastructure carry out improvements to between 350 and 400 homes. The programme is designed to bring properties currently below Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C up to modern energy standards.
The project will be delivered via the Pretium Greener Futures Partnership framework. Works will include both internal and external energy efficiency measures and will be installed in full compliance with PAS 2035/2030:2023 standards and the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
This marks the Group’s second contract win with Phoenix in 2025, further strengthening United Infrastructure’s partnership following PiLON’s appointment (a United Infrastructure company) in March 2025 to deliver a five-year Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) programme.
Claire Kershaw, CEO, Social Infrastructure, commented: “We are proud to support Phoenix Community Housing in their mission to build a better future for their community by delivering high-quality, sustainable improvements to residents’ homes.
“This contract aligns perfectly with our long-standing partnerships with the London Borough of Lewisham and the Royal Borough of Greenwich and further strengthens our presence in South London.”
Ben Whiterod, Head of Decarbonisation, United Infrastructure, added: “This project is particularly close to my heart, as I was born and raised in the local area. It is a privilege to give back to the community I grew up in by contributing to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for residents.”
