From Swansea to New York: Raven Delta Group and Health & Wellbeing 360 represent UK FM expertise at the UN General Assembly

Raven Delta Group (RDG) and its consultancy which specialises in health and wellbeing within the built environment, Health & Wellbeing 360 (HWB360), have represented UK facilities management on the global stage at events linked to the United Nations General Assembly on indoor air quality.

RDG’s Group CEO, David Kieft, and HWB360’s CEO, Dr Phil Webb, were invited to Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action, an official side event of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Here, they signed the Global Pledge, which is a landmark commitment recognising clean indoor air as a fundamental public health priority. Other founding signatories included the Governments of France and Montenegro, the Australian Academy of Science, as well as RDG subsidiaries MedicAir and EFT Consult.

The following day, Dr Webb and Kieft attended the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and Hunter College’s event on ‘Improving Indoor Air Quality to Unlock Human Health, Organizational Performance and a Sustainable Future’. Delegates included global leaders, senior representatives from the UN and WHO, and experts in public health and building science.

At this event, Dr Webb spoke on the panel Global Leadership Perspectives: Regional Insights and Approaches, alongside Dr Georgia Lagoudas (Brown University), Professor Mukesh Khare (Society for Indoor Environment) and Dr Milka Sokolovic, Director General, European Public Health Alliance.

Dr Webb shared Wales and UK insights on high-performance buildings and evidence-based solutions for healthier, safer indoor environments.

This covered awareness and education programmes, data and data quality, analytics and AI, air quality governance, the importance of open systems to allow independent monitor testing, and translating building performance into health impacts.

Discussions also explored future collaboration with Brown University on research into indoor environmental quality, demonstrating Wales’ contribution to international knowledge exchange.

The event highlights the growing recognition of indoor air quality as a key factor in workplace health, occupant wellbeing, and organisational performance. For UK FM professionals, this has practical consequences:

  • Incorporating IEQ monitoring and management into everyday FM operations.
  • Aligning building upgrades and retrofits with international best practice.
  • Integrating standards such as BS 40102-1:2023, the UK’s world-first standard for measuring and improving indoor environmental quality as a global baseline, the development of which was led by Raven Delta Group and EFT Consult.

Dr Phil Webb, CEO of HWB360, said: “Indoor environmental quality is a global issue that impacts every country, every sector, and every family. UK Facilities Management is now part of shaping the global roadmap, and that’s an incredibly powerful story of how local expertise can have worldwide impact through international collaboration.”

David Kieft, CEO of Raven Delta Group, commented: “This was a landmark moment, not just for our companies but for Wales and the UK as a whole. It shows that SMEs and facilities management can be at the forefront of tackling some of the world’s most pressing health and environmental challenges. We are proud to carry the Welsh flag into global conversations and demonstrate that world-class innovation can come from our communities.”

Raven Delta Group and HWB360 continue to collaborate with public bodies, professional institutions, and communities across the UK to champion healthier, safer buildings. The UN event reinforces the sector’s role in shaping global conversations on indoor air quality and provides UK facilities managers with insights to enhance performance, compliance, and wellbeing outcomes in their buildings. In particular, Raven Delta Group and HWB360 have been asked for their input on future international legislation from the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Indoor Air Quality standards in the workplace.
