Mears Group has secured a significant contract win with Birmingham City Council for the delivery of repairs and maintenance services as well as planned investment works to 11,500 homes in the central and west areas of the city.
The 10-year deal, estimated to be worth £450 million over the initial term, also includes the potential for a further five-year extension.
The contract covers a wide range of services, including day-to-day repairs, emergency cover, voids, planned maintenance and improvement, electrical testing, gas and heating installation, disabled adaptations, in addition to some retrofit works.
Cllr Nicky Brennan, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said: “Birmingham City Council is investing more than £200 million a year to bring more council properties up to a better standard. We look forward to working with Mears to provide a repairs and maintenance service that will enable us to keep the pace of that investment, while providing tenants with a quality of service that they rightly expect and deserve.”

Birmingham City Council has also awarded WPS, part of Wates Group a 10-year contract to deliver housing repairs and maintenance services in the north and south of Birmingham.
