Arcus FM retains SFMI gold award

Arcus FM has retained the Sustainable Facilities Management Index (SFMI) Gold Award following the latest assessment, reflecting continued progress across ESG performance.

The 2025 SFMI assessment awarded Arcus an overall score of 84 per cent, demonstrating year-on-year improvement and growing maturity in how sustainability is managed and embedded across the business.

The assessment highlights strong performance in key areas including health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, energy management and transport, supported by clear policies, leadership engagement and transparent reporting.

The scorecard recognises the progress Arcus has made in strengthening its approach to sustainability while continuing to grow and evolve as a business. In particular, it reflects improvements in social impact, colleague wellbeing and inclusion, alongside a consistent focus on environmental management and long-term planning.

The assessment also provides clear direction for the next stage of development, supporting Arcus’s ambition to continue moving from strong foundations towards greater integration and measurable impact across its operations and supply chain.

Chris Green, CEO of Arcus FM said:

“Retaining our Gold status while improving our score means a great deal to us. It reflects the care and commitment our colleagues bring to their work every day, and the progress we are making in turning our sustainability ambitions into practical action as the business grows.”

Vicky Downham, HSQE Director at Arcus FM, emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainability:

“The SFMI assessment gives us an objective, honest and constructive view of where we are. This year’s result shows how our approach is strengthening across governance, social and environmental priorities, and it helps us focus on the areas that will make the biggest difference for our people, our customers and our partners.”

Webinar FMJ and askporter: How to overcome the comms gap in FM with AI and tech tools

According to the 2026 UK Facilities Management Market Research Report by askporter, facilities management professionals want clear, verifiable evidence of work being delivered, with teams that can communicate progress in real time. This requires technology that is affordable, intuitive, and quick to adopt.

Yet the report found that:

Over three quarters of FM professionals (76 per cent) experience operational inefficiencies caused by siloed software which results in a lack of real-time visibility.

Communications challenges lead to maintenance issues, with 73 per cent of teams being forced into reactive problem-solving on a weekly basis.

A worrying level of compliance gaps, with 44 per cent of admitting that half or less of their compliance tasks are tracked and automated within their systems.

Closing this gap requires the establishment of transparent and consistent communications using affordable software that gives FM teams the ability to track, evidence and improve their services.

This webinar provides a valuable overview of the main findings of the report by askporter followed by a panel discussion by FM thought leaders on practical, strategic solutions that can help close this communications gap.
