EMCOR UK has achieved the Silver Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), in recognition of the company’s proactive support for reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, military spouses and partners, and the wider Armed Forces community. It also acknowledges the business’s alignment with the Armed Forces Covenant and its efforts to embed defence-aligned values across its operations.
At the heart of EMCOR UK’s approach is its dedicated internal Armed Forces Network, which sees 27 ex-service men and women, reservists, veterans and military family members meeting regularly to share insights, provide peer support and steer company initiatives.
The company actively recruits former service personnel and recently made several key hires via its participation in British Forces Resettlement Services and Career Transition Partnership events. These include mechanical and security roles on high-profile contracts such as the Department for Health and Social Care and defence sector accounts.
EMCOR UK is also engaging with the B Corp-certified social enterprise Recruit for Spouses, with a view to providing mentoring, hosting employability events, delivering green skills training, providing direct employability support via its resourcing team.
The company has also undertaken a range of impactful volunteering and fundraising initiatives, including:
- A £10,000 refurbishment project at Tidworth House for soon-to-be medically discharged personnel.
- Participation in Walking With The Wounded’s Cumbrian Challenge.
- Volunteer support for Commonwealth War Graves Commission site maintenance.
Roy Ramrutton, Head of Social Value at EMCOR UK, said: “Our support for the Armed Forces community is built on action, not words – from offering practical career support and volunteering, to helping build environments where people can thrive after service. This award recognises the efforts of colleagues across the business who bring this commitment to life every day and strengthens our service offering to defence sector customers.”
