Exam board AQA appoints Atlas Workplace Services for TFM deal

Atlas Workplace Services has secured a total facilities management (TFM) contract with AQA, the independent education charity that marks over half of all GCSEs and A-levels every year.

The partnership, which went live on 1 April 2025, includes cleaning, security, and mechanical and electrical services across the AQA estate.

The contract covers key sites in Guildford, Manchester and two in Milton Keynes. In addition to core TFM delivery, the agreement also includes provision for project work, offering AQA greater flexibility and opportunities to improve its estate over the potential four-year period.

AQA chose Atlas via a competitive tender process and has chosen to bring different service areas together under a TFM single provider for the first time. There was a successful three-month mobilisation period, and the two organisations are now working hard to deliver the strategic goals of the contract.

With approximately 20 colleagues now dedicated to the AQA contract, Atlas Workplace Services is focused on delivering consistent quality, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across all service lines.

Karen O’Neill, Managing Director of Atlas Workplace Services, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have been selected as AQA’s TFM partner. It’s a privilege to support such an important British body, and we’re excited to bring a streamlined and responsive service model to their estate. From day one, the collaboration between our teams has been highly positive, and we look forward to building a long and productive partnership.”

Nick Greenwood, AQA Head of Workplace and Property, said: “AQA is focused on helping students realise their potential and we’re pleased that Atlas Workplace Services is helping to provide a working for environment for our staff to fulfil that goal. Their approach during the tender process showed a clear understanding of our needs and a strong commitment to service excellence. Since the contract began, their team has worked closely with ours to ensure a smooth transition.”
