Technical services group, Mecsia, has acquired Ashley & McDonough, a highly reputable Northwest-based compliance, maintenance, and installation services specialist within the Social Housing and Local Authority sectors
This is a strategic move that accelerates Mecsia’s national presence in the Northwest whilst also expanding its service capabilities and exposure to new end sectors. The combined group will now comprise 1,300 people and generate turnover of over £200 million, solidifying its position as a leading force in the technical services sector.
Jon Coiley, CEO of Mecsia, said: “We’re very excited to welcome Ashley & McDonough into the group. Their long-standing heritage, outstanding reputation, and commitment to service excellence make them a perfect fit. This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver industry-leading, self-delivered services across an even broader geographic footprint — all while maintaining our local delivery model that customers value so highly. We have been particularly impressed with the leadership, ambition and award-winning reputation of A&M and we look forward to helping accelerate their expansion across the UK.”
Darren Cunningham, Managing Director at A&M, commented: “We’re incredibly proud of everything A&M has achieved over the last 60 years. Joining Mecsia is the next natural step in our evolution — a move that allows us to grow, invest in our people, and bring even more value to our customers. Most importantly, our service model, autonomy and values stay the same. This is a new chapter built on trust, mutual respect, and shared ambition.”
A&M will continue to deliver their award-winning services with the same people-first mindset that has defined its decades of success. From directly employed engineers and specialist helpdesk staff to industry-leading compliance technology, the A&M way of working will remain firmly in place, now bolstered by the resources of the wider Mecsia Group.
For existing and new clients, this acquisition promises enhanced value and a broader range of solutions. While A&M’s skilled teams, leadership, and trusted brand will remain firmly in place, clients will now benefit from Mecsia’s scale, increased investment in staff training and career development, and greater purchasing power. This partnership also provides access to a broader range of services, including a new Green Energy Centre of Excellence, all while maintaining the local, personal approach.
