Mitie has secured a new contract with Transport for London (TfL) to provide maintenance services across its estate, including critical head office sites and key operational locations.
The five-year deal, with the option to extend for a further two years, will see Mitie providing maintenance services at 32 head office sites and over 200 key Road, Bus & River (RBR) TfL sites across London, including the Woolwich Ferry Depot, Victoria Coach Station and the London Transport Museum.
The contract, which includes 86 colleagues transferring to Mitie, will see Mitie help maintain TfL’s tram depot in Croydon, its Dial-a-Ride services and a number of river piers, bus stations and tram stops.
Mitie’s services are designed to maintain and enhance each individual site, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering services as well as fire safety, water and gas safety. Mitie has developed bespoke, dedicated solutions to support the needs of TfL’s diverse sites across Greater London. This ranges from ring-fenced engineering teams focused on specific critical head offices, through to mobile solutions to support the city’s bus stations and driver welfare facilities. Mitie will also provide fabric services whereby it’s responsible for repairing and preserving the design and structure of TfL buildings.
This partnership builds on Mitie’s existing relationship with TfL which has been providing security services to the transport body since 2017.
Andrew Thompson, Managing Director, Technical Services, Mitie, said: “We’re proud to strengthen our partnership with TfL and play a vital role in keeping London moving. Our dedicated engineering teams are ready to deliver innovative, reliable solutions that help ensure the city’s transport network runs safely and smoothly for tram, bus or boat travellers. This contract is a testament to Mitie’s expertise and together we’re creating better places and thriving communities for Londoners.”
