Landsec has awarded Equans a new four-year contract to deliver building services, fabric maintenance and energy performance across its MediaCity estate in Salford, Manchester.
The contract award builds on a successful five-year partnership with MediaCity, where Equans has provided hard facilities management and energy efficiency services since 2020.
Home to more than 250 businesses, including the BBC, ITV, SIS and Kellogg’s, MediaCity is a 200-acre destination on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. The new contract includes several critical TV and radio production facilities, where operational resilience is essential to maintain uninterrupted live broadcasting.
Under this new agreement, Equans will continue to combine its technical expertise with energy solutions to support Landsec’s ambitions around sustainability and net zero. Both organisations are committed to embedding decarbonisation into day-to-day operations and ensuring the estate remains resilient and is future-proofed.
A dedicated on-site team of 25 Equans employees will deliver the services, including a team of technical managers providing 24/7 cover. This structure includes robust high-voltage resilience measures to ensure the security and reliability of operations at all times.
Emmanuel Chautemps, Private Sector Managing Director at Equans UK & Ireland, said: “MediaCity is a unique and iconic destination, and we are proud to continue supporting its growth. Our focus will be on delivering resilient services that keep this busy estate running every day, while also driving energy performance and carbon reduction. We are also committed to strengthening our partnership with Landsec, building on existing commitments and exploring further opportunities to deliver value across their wider portfolio. Together, we will ensure MediaCity remains a sustainable and future-ready environment for the businesses and communities based here.”
David Wickens, Head of Workplace Operations at Landsec, said: “We are looking forward to beginning this new chapter with Equans at MediaCity. Their expertise in facilities management and energy performance will be key to delivering our ambitions for sustainability and resilience, ensuring MediaCity remains a world-class location for business, media and culture.”
