The S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group is inviting applications from Non-ACS security company representatives to join its core leadership committee, as it continues to broaden representation and strengthen its engagement with Government and industry stakeholders.
The move reflects the S12’s commitment to ensuring that leadership and decision-making represents the diversity of business models operating across the UK security guarding sector.
Working collectively with Government, the Security Minister, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the S12 was set up to address critical industry challenges, raise professional standards and improve public safety.
The introduction of dedicated Non-ACS representation is intended to ensure that policy discussions and reform proposals are informed by the full breadth of operational experience within the sector.
The two new Non-ACS board members will join the S12’s core leadership committee with the same responsibilities and voting rights as existing members. They will play a central role in shaping the group’s priorities and contributing directly to key workstreams, including Mandatory Business Licensing, Martyn’s Law, labour exploitation, training malpractice and the SIA Business Approval Scheme.
Paul Evans, Chair of the S12 Security Guarding Leadership Group, said: “The S12 was established to represent the whole of the security guarding industry, and as our engagement with Government deepens, it is vital that our leadership structure continues to reflect the breadth of the sector.
“Introducing two Non-ACS board seats is an important step in ensuring that experienced, compliant and professional Non-ACS businesses have a direct voice at the table as we work on some of the most significant reforms facing our industry.”
The roles are open to senior leaders from eligible Non-ACS companies providing SIA-licensable guarding services in the UK. Successful applicants, will serve a two-year term and will be expected to commit time and expertise to S12 activity, including regular meetings, workstream leadership and in-person engagement with Government and regulatory bodies.
The deadline for applications to be submitted in Wednesday, 4 February at 5pm.
Further information about the roles, eligibility requirements and application process is available via the S12 website.
According to the 2026 UK Facilities Management Market Research Report by askporter, facilities management professionals want clear, verifiable evidence of work being delivered, with teams that can communicate progress in real time. This requires technology that is affordable, intuitive, and quick to adopt.
Yet the report found that:
Over three quarters of FM professionals (76 per cent) experience operational inefficiencies caused by siloed software which results in a lack of real-time visibility.
Communications challenges lead to maintenance issues, with 73 per cent of teams being forced into reactive problem-solving on a weekly basis.
A worrying level of compliance gaps, with 44 per cent of admitting that half or less of their compliance tasks are tracked and automated within their systems.
Closing this gap requires the establishment of transparent and consistent communications using affordable software that gives FM teams the ability to track, evidence and improve their services.
This webinar provides a valuable overview of the main findings of the report by askporter followed by a panel discussion by FM thought leaders on practical, strategic solutions that can help close this communications gap.
