Servo expands rail and infrastructure division

Multi-service provider, Servo Group, has relocated to a larger Southern base to accommodate a raft of new appointments, boosting its growing rail and infrastructure division.

The company, which already has offices in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and Teeside is expanding its division, after some major contract wins. It has relocated its Southern Operations and Rail Infrastructure division to a new office in Wickford Essex, at the heart of the region it services on a multi-million pound Network Rail contract.

The RISQS-accredited provider has also made three major appointments to capitalise on new opportunities and drive its sector expansion.

Bob Strike has joined Servo Group, as Rail and Infrastructure Director with more than 30 years of experience, including senior positions at Railsafe and Hills Bridge. Servo has also appointed Steve Greenaway as Head of Operations South, and Ellie Pocklington as Head of Rail.

Servo is a fast-growing multi-service provider, offering SIA-licensed guarding, PTS rail labour, CCTV  and cleaning to a host of high-profile clients. The firm has enjoyed national expansion since its inception, doubling its turnover and boosting its portfolio with the addition of high-profile clients in the rail, energy, construction and local authority sectors. It has some major infrastructure projects in the pipeline in Essex, London and the South-East, which it predicts could create up to 350 jobs in the next two years.

It was recently announced the Government will invest a record £92 billion into the rail and road infrastructure, as part of its Plan for Change, funding more than 50 projects and potentially creating over 42,000 jobs, including £590 million to take forward the Lower Thames Crossing, connecting Kent and Essex.

Tony Briffa, Servo Group’s Managing Director said: “The opportunities within rail and infrastructure in the South-East and London are incredibly exciting at the moment, making it the perfect time to expand our presence down here with the new office and to grow our team. Bob, Steve and Ellie are fantastic appointments for Servo – collectively they have more than 60 years’ experience within the rail and security sectors and they’ll have a huge impact on building our existing profile and capitalising on opportunities through the renewed government investment.”

As part of its expansion, Servo is also keen to expand its social value initiatives into the Essex area, targeting collaborations with local charity initiatives and sustainability projects, which is an integral part of its own focus as an ISO 14001, and Alcumus Gold accredited company.

Servo, which celebrates its 12th anniversary next month, now employs over 1800 operatives working around the UK, working with high-profile clients such as Conrad Energy, Story Contracting and Morgan Sindall.

The way we work has changed – yet, many organisations are still relying on rigid, one-size-fits-all tools to manage desks and meeting rooms, according to a new study from workplace management solutions provider, Matrix Booking.

Spreadsheets, calendars, and generic booking software may have worked once, but they’re struggling to keep pace with today’s flexible, hybrid workforce. The result? Wasted time, frustrated employees, and expensive underutilised space.

Matrix Booking’s new study, ‘One-size-fits-all booking systems don’t work for today’s workforce’, explores why current systems are falling short – and how organisations can reimagine workspace management to boost efficiency, employee experience, and cost savings.
