Velway appointed as new FM provider for Thorpe Park Leeds

Velway, a leading property management and compliance company, has been appointed as the new facilities management provider for Thorpe Park Leeds – one of the North’s most significant and successful mixed-use business destinations.

The contract includes the delivery of comprehensive FM services across the 1.4 million square foot estate, covering security, health and safety, cleaning, general upkeep, repairs and maintenance. Velway will work to ensure that the estate remains a modern, vibrant, and sustainable environment for the hundreds of businesses, workers, and visitors that use the space daily.

Strategically located at Junction 46 of the M1 and connected directly to Leeds city centre via the new East Leeds Orbital Route and Thorpe Park Railway Station (opening 2025), Thorpe Park Leeds is a flagship development within Scarborough Group International’s (SGI) growing national portfolio. With more than 100 businesses already established on site, from major corporates to fast-growing regional SMEs, the estate continues to evolve as a magnet for investment, innovation and talent.

This contract further strengthens Velway’s positive and collaborative relationship with SGI, as it continues to deliver exceptional service across its national portfolio, spanning locations from Edinburgh and Manchester to Newport.

The estate has seen rapid transformation in recent years, with new commercial, residential, and retail and leisure developments helping to realise its long-term vision of becoming a connected, sustainable community where people can work, live and thrive. The next phase of development will see a further 1.6 million sq. ft of mixed-use space added, alongside 450 new homes, reinforcing Thorpe Park’s position as a leading mixed-use destination.

Matthew Wilson, Commercial Director at Velway, brings a personal connection to the site, having previously been the Facilities Manager for the estate between 2013 and 2018.

He said: “It’s a privilege to return to Thorpe Park in a new capacity. Having been part of the estate’s early growth, it’s incredible to see the transformation it has undergone. The scale and quality of development here is outstanding, and we’re excited to support its next chapter by ensuring the facilities and day-to-day operations meet the high standards expected by occupiers, visitors, and the local community.”

Rachel Vickers, Senior Commercial Manager at SGI, commented: “Thorpe Park Leeds is much more than a business park, it’s a dynamic, connected community that continues to set new standards for regional placemaking. As we enter the next phase of growth, it’s essential we have partners who understand the scale of our ambition and the importance of delivering an exceptional day-to-day experience for occupiers, residents and visitors alike. Velway’s track record and hands-on knowledge of the estate make them an ideal FM partner as we look to the future.”

This latest contract adds to Velway’s roster of high-profile clients which includes National Care Group, global technology company, Ideagen, and RBH Properties.
